Island One
04:43
|
|
||
Imagine a giant cylindrical object in space
It’s called Island One, a very remarkable place
A gentle rotation that simulates Earth gravity
An outside-in world, the very first space colony
The sun provides energy twenty-four hours a day
Zero-G industries busily working away
The settlers are coming in shuttles from Earth every day
From all walks of life to a better tomorrow today

Distantly

Distantly he said I can see to land
Time surpassed us and rest was close at hand
Moving danger has almost passed us by
Gently downwards and soaring as we will fly
Buckled in as atmospheres begin to show a sign
Figures on the read-out screen are keeping us in line
Captain gave the word to all that we will soon touch down
Pride is written on the face and valour on the crown
Have you ever been on a journey as grand?
Steady passengers we’re about to land

The New Pioneers
02:41
|
|
||
We got the clearance from Security
And I am soon to be rejoined with my family
We’ve got a place in central Island One
We should be settled in before the school year’s begun
We are the settlers of the new high frontier
Among the first ones, the new pioneers
My brother’s coming in a week or two
He’ll be a farm technician on the agro-pod crew
Our names will all go down in history
The first inhabitants to live in a space colony
We are the settlers of the new high frontier
Among the first ones, the new pioneers

As We Look To The Stars
02:22
|
|
||
It was not enough to recognize the error of our ways
Pray that nature can restore herself and forgive us our disgrace
As we look to the stars
We can see into infinity, we must not be afraid
We’re receiving solar energy from collectors out in space
And adopted new technology to recycle all our waste
As we look to the stars
We can clearly see our destiny; we must search for the truth
In the era of discovery such a story to be told
We turned dreams into reality, let us ever be as bold
As we take to the stars
How can we ignore their beckoning, we must never stand still

I had a daydream, I can remember
There was just me and you
We were both running through fields of tall grass
Still wet with morning dew
We wandered barefoot to wooded havens
And time stood still a while
I saw it coming, the signs were showing
I saw your fragile smile
Down by a clear water brook
Treasure the moments that we took
We ventured further, the path we followed
Began to wind and twist
Deep in the forest where sounds are muted
There was a gentle mist
A brook was babbling, a crow was cawing
We did not speak a word
We were receiving the wholeness feeling
With every sound we heard
Down by a clear water brook
Treasure the moments that we took
Far from the city in alpine meadows
The mountains kiss the sky
The flowers blooming, the glaciers gleaming
All just for you and I
And I awaken, with you beside me
And all our dreams come true
We are receiving the wholeness feeling
And I will stay with you
Down by a clear water brook
Treasure the moments that we took

The Greening
08:22
|
|
||
In time there came the greening, we at last became aware
Of our imminent destruction, if we didn't start to care
We had scorched and gouged the planet 'til it had no more to give
Thinking only of the dollar, not how human kind will live
But the activists persisted ‘til the politicians caved
And even multinationals had changed how they behaved
Environmental issues had become the prime concern
And through concentrated efforts the tide began to turn
Environmentally friendly - the operating theme
Ceasing our polluting ways became the master scheme
Recycling and rebuilding, giving back to Mother Earth
So that life that once came from the sea could ratify rebirth
And meanwhile in concert with the terrestrial campaign
It’s no longer just a dream to include space in Man’s domain
In self sufficient colonies man lives and works in space
In tune with this alternative the Earth’s a better place
We have industries in orbit using solar energy
And exploiting the advantages of zero gravity
We mine the moon and asteroids, new alloys have been made
And with advances in space medicine the cost is being repaid
In the era of discovery, such a story to be told
We turned dreams into reality; let us ever be as bold
Relieved from our dependencies and the damage we had done
We call these times The Greening and we’ve only just begun

Brand New Star
04:32
|
|
||
When I look to the clear night sky
I can see with my naked eye
It's a brand new star
Can you see
(Can you see it's a brand new star)
Can you see
(Can you see it's a brand new star)
When I stand here beside my love
Feel the warmth from the sun above
It's a brand new world
Can you see
(We have made this a brand new world)
Can you see
(Once again such a beautiful world)
This no ordinary star
Just as bright but not as far
Standing here with you tonight
Can you see that shining light
Moving silent, cross the sky
Make a wish then say goodbye
Light of day I still see the star
I can hear a gentle voice from afar
From a brand new star
Come with me
(Come with me to a brand new star)
Come with me
(Come with me to a brand new star)
Can you see
(Can you see it's a brand new star)
Can you see
(Can you see it's a brand new star)
This no ordinary star
Just as bright but not as far
Standing here with you tonight
Can you see that shining light
Moving silent, cross the sky
Hear my wish then say goodbye
Light of day I still see the star
I can hear a gentle voice from afar
From a brand new star
Come with me
(Come with me to a brand new star)
Come with me
(Come with me to a brand new star)
Can you see
(Can you see it's a brand new star)
Can you see
(Can you see it's a brand new star)

A Call From Island One

Wife: "Hello?"
Hello babe, I got your e-mail today
I've been waiting patiently
I can't wait until your training's complete
And your standing here with me
Island One is a paradise world
As you're soon about to see
I think you'll be very comfortable
It's as pleasant as can be
And your first space flight
It will be alright
It's really quite routine
And out your window
You'll see the stars glow
Unlike you've ever seen
You've never been
We'll be living in a family suite
With a view of Island Three
I've been working with the life support crew
And our job is near complete
We're working steady
To make it ready
There are three shifts a day
The people waiting
Anticipating
When they can come to stay
They're on their way
Let me know what time your shuttle arrives
And I'll meet you at the gate
I have missed you since I left you on Earth
And now I can hardly wait
Say hi to mother
And all the others
Please tell them all to write
My time is up now
I must hang up now
I'll dream of you tonight
Sweet dreams tonight

I’ve got a bicycle with wings
One of the strangest looking things
It’s got twin propellers, left and right
A means for human powered flight
Space bike, Space bike
Human powered flight
Space bike
The central axis is the place
Where you are weightless like in space
Don’t venture too far from the line
With laser guidance you should be fine
And here we go!
Surrounded by the valley bed
Below, beside and overhead
There's no such thing as up or down
Every direction points to the ground
And here we go again!

First Native Citizen
03:09
|
|
||
First native citizen was born on Island One
A healthy baby boy, a new life just begun
And mother giving birth in zero gravity
Said it was easier than she thought it would be
First baby born in space was weightless at his birth
An extraterrestrial whose parents came from Earth
His dad commutes each day from Island One to Island Three
He's working in construction but he just made history
When he gets home this evening he'll be handing out cigars
The finest from the agro-pods, tobacco of the stars
Now it's time to celebrate, we've come a long, long way
When work on Island Three is done we'll take a holiday

Seventh Heaven
03:09
|
|
||
Seasons passing through the mind
Never knowing what you'll find
Pacing steady through the storms
Looking for familiar forms
Sitting inside comfort's wall
See the future standing tall
Should we choose to travel far
Breakaway spectacular
Wonder how you would react
If your theory was attacked
I've a place inside my mind
Me and my guitar unwind
We see mankind as a better being
Watching on the ocean waves
Making sure the shore behaves
Silent memories cloud the view
All my thoughts return to you
Your smile takes me for a ride
Seventh heaven widens stride
Elevator's going down
You and I don't fool around
Living far beyond our dreams
Not as easy as it seems
If mankind is to survive
Global peace must soon arrive
We must be more than a passing fancy

Starlight
02:29
|
|

Starlight, starlight
Any star you wish to see tonight
Starlight, starlight
Any star you wish to see tonight
My universal child
I've never seen your eyes so wide
Come with me a while
A trip to Saturn
I think would be your style
Once around the Moon
Just to get in tune
Starlight, starlight
Any star you wish to see tonight
Starlight, starlight
Any star you wish to see tonight
Have you seen the rings
They look lovely in the spring
There are many things
You must experience
But you'll have to earn your wings
Once around the Sun
It's just for fun
Starlight, starlight
Any star you wish to see tonight
Starlight, starlight
Any star you wish to see tonight
Any star you wish to see tonight
Any star you wish to see tonight

Tell me where are we going from here
Tell me where will we be in a year
We have seen as the ages go by
We can do anything if we try
Shall we go explore our
Solar system and beyond
Searching for the answers
Shall we ever carry on
There are those among us
Who believe we're not alone
Can it be the universe
Is our exclusive home
By the virtue of all that is dear
Tell me where are we going from here
